The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games is a science fiction novel written by young adult-author of the acclaimed Underland Chronicles, Suzanne Collins. Originally published in hardcover the 14 September 2008 por Scholastic Press. It is the first book in the trilogy of the Hunger Games. The star of sixteen, Katniss Everdeen, live in a post-apocalyptic world where big government has called Capitol Hill seized power after several devastating disasters. In the book, "Hunger Games" is an annual event televised on Capitol Hill which randomly selects one boy and one girl from each of the twelve districts, then face each other in a game of survival and forced to kill until only one.
The second book in the series, Burning, was published 1 September 2009, and the third book, Sinsajo, is tentatively scheduled for launch in 2010 (end of August in the U.S. and early September in Spain)

Suzanne Collins says the idea of "Hunger Games" came to her one day when around zapping, and mixed competition a reality show and coverage of the war "and this was mixed in a very disturbing". It also cites the Greek myth of Theseus, in which Athens was forced to send young men and women to Crete to be devoured by the Minotaur, as a source of inspiration for the nation of Panem, explains: "Crete was sending a clear message: "Get in with us and we will do something worse than killing. We will kill their children ". After writing the novel, Collins signed a six figure three books with Scholastic 2006. From the 2009, there 500.000 copies of The Hunger Games in print and 26 foreign editions, rights of the novel have been sold 33 territories.

The war has left America transformed in the country of Panem, divided into twelve districts controlled by the tyrannical power of the Capitol. Without freedom and poverty, no one can leave the boundaries of his district. The Capitol and the thirteenth district destroyed by rebellion, and in commemoration of this fact and to remind people to be submissive, every year, representatives of each district, a girl and a boy, will be forced to survive in a hostile environment and be locked into a outdoor stadium where the twenty-death struggle between them until only one survivor ... are the Hunger Games, a horrible TV show.
